Featured Adoptables

Maggie
Our first featured senior of the day is sweet, little Maggie. This 8-year-old lap cat has a gentle, loving and affectionate personality making her one top-notch snuggler. Maggie was brought to us in January because her previous owner was having problems with their allergies. Needless to say after being with us for  six months, she is ready to find her furever retirement home. She prefers her surroundings to be a little more quite so she would do best as the only four-legged child in an adult-only home. Even though she isn't a young, frisky kitty any more, she would like to remind you that age is just a number. Does she sound like the perfect snuggle buddy for you? Come on in and see her!
Maggie has a waiver for ear mites and a dental exam.

Sonny
Our other senior is Sonny, an 11-year-old Beagle/Rough Collie mix. The adorable senior is one giant fluff ball making him the perfect cuddle buddy. Sonny was brought to LHS in June because his previous owners realized they just didn't have enough time for him. This mild-mannered, affectionate, loving dog would like other canine siblings as well as children of all ages making him the perfect addition to any family. Are you his furever family? Stop on by LHS and find out!

Gucci
Meet Gucci, a 6-year-old Pug mix. Gucci may be an independent lady but she loves to make friends and loves to love you! Unfortunately, Gucci was brought to LHS in June because her owner could no longer care for her. This sweet girl is crate trained, housebroken and even knows a few commands such as sit and stay. She would do well with all of kinds of siblings such as dogs, cats and small animals. Gucci is patiently waiting to find her new furever home where she can live without a care in the world. Come up to Lake Humane Society and see if she could be your new fur-ever friend!

PJ
Meet PJ! This handsome man came into the shelter as a stray back in February. Since then, he has become quite the ham. He weighs in at a little over 12lbs and he loves nothing more than laying back and soaking up all the attention we give him. He loves being petted and is pretty content with just being your lap warmer. Pj would love to finally find a furever home that he can call is own. Can you give him the safe, warm and loving home he wishes for? If so, stop by LHS and ask for PJ!

Augusta
This big happy face belongs to Augusta, a 4-year-old Norwegian Elkhound mix. This gorgeous girl and her previous owner's lost their home and with no where to go, she was brought to LHS. She is a little timid at first but once she gets to know you, you'll see how friendly, loving and playful she is. Augusta is full of energy and loves long walks and her time out of the shelter. She is housebroken and crate trained but would love a fenced in yard where she can explore and stretch her legs. This smart girl also knows commands such as sit, stay, down, here and off. Augusta would need to be the only pet in the home. Do you think you can provide the furever home she needs? Well, if so, stop on by and pay her a visit, she just might be your next best friend!

Charlie
This little man is Charlie, a 7-year-old male Pug. Charlie is now in our care because his previous owners did not have enough time to take care of him. This friendly, little guy can be a little needy at times but hey, who wouldn't like being the center of attention?! He likes going for long walks and as you can see he also loves posing for pictures. Charlie is also very playful and loving and could potentially be good with children of all ages (pending a visit). He is also crate trained, housebroken and would do well in a home with other female canine siblings. So if you think Charlie is the right fit for you, stop on by the shelter and pay him a visit!

Meg
Meg came to the shelter as a stray and as you can imagine, her new life her at the shelter is quite an adjustment. She is a little shy but enjoys being petted and with a little TLC, it won't take long for her to warm up to you. This affectionate girl is also quite playful and because she can get quite spunky, she would do best in a home with children over the age of 10 (pending a visit). So if you are looking for a new companion with plenty of personality, Meg could be your gal!

Gwen
This beautiful girl is Gwen. She is an active 2-year-old bunny who absolutely loves attention. She can't get enough and once you meet her, you won't be able to get enough either. Her previous owners could no longer take care of her and after being in our care for over 6 months, she is ready to find her furever home. She would do best in an all-adult home with someone who is experienced in handling rabbits. She may be small but if your looking for a bunny with a larger than life personality, just ask for Gwen!

Harry Needs Your Help!

Harry Needs YOU!

This adorable 6-year-old Terrier mix is one of our current residents and he needs your help. Harry is suffering from asceptic necrosis of the femoral head in his right rear hip. We have scheduled his surgery with a specialist for Thursday (6/18). Harry is the next Angel Fund recipient and his surgery will cost the shelter up to $1,600. We cannot help animals with extensive medical needs without YOU. Any donation you can make to help Harry is much appreciated. Please help us save his life.

To donate to The Angel Fund today and help Harry, please click here!
When making your online donation, please be sure to select "The Angel Fund" under Program.

The Angel Fund was started in 2007 after a Shepherd mix named Angel needed our immediate help. Angel suffered from severe injuries after being hit by a car, and we could not have helped her without generous donations being made in Angel's name. Ever since then, we have collected donations for our Angel Fund, which is a separate savings used only for animals with special needs. We currently have other animals, such as Queenie (the Chihuahua mix being treated for mange), who are relying on The Angel Fund for their care. If we are able to raise over $1,600 (the needed amount for Harry's care), the extra donations will be saved for the next Angel Fund recipient.

We will also have a donation collection box for Harry at Woof, Wag & Wine this Saturday. If all goes as planned, Harry will be attending the event! If you prefer making your donation in person, please visit our shelter during our normal hours.

We thank you in advance for your consideration and support.
We cannot continue to save lives without you.

Look at that smile! Elvis, a Basset Hound/Beagle mix was surrendered to us because his previous owners could no longer afford to take care of him. LHS has served as his temporary home since mid-May and it didn't take long for Elvis to become a much-loved favorite of our staff and volunteers. He has even been know to visit some of the folks at the local retirement homes. They love him and with a smile like that, he has become a favorite of them too! This gentle and loving guy is good with children of all ages, other dogs, other cats and even small animals. And even though he is crated trained, he also would require a fenced in yard where he can stretch his legs. Stop by Lake Humane Society and check him out. Elvis is patiently waiting for the furever home he so truly deserves.

This handsome man is Zeus. At only 6 months old, this big pup is full of energy and spunk. His previous owners did not have enough time to give him all the attention and exercise he needs. Zeus has been with us since May and even though he is happy and healthy here at LHS, he would love to find a new furever home family with plenty of time to play with him. This loving and friendly boy is also very strong and would do best in a home with children over the age of 10. Come visit Zeus today. He just might be the next great addition of your family!

This beautiful gal is Willa. When you first meet this big 2-year-old she might be a little timid but once she sees that all you want to do is show her a little love, her affectionate side shines through. This purring machine loves being petted and unfortunately her previous owner could no longer take care of her. She is now looking for that special furever home that she has heard so much about. She is FIV positive and would need to be the only four-legged child in an adult only home. So if you would like to give this special kitty the special furever home she deserves, stop by and see her today!

This cute, little man is Nicholas. He is a little shy but very relaxed. He will surely enjoy your company and your lap. Nicholas was born at LHS and now him and his brother, Luke, are looking for a new home where they can play and snuggle together furever. So if you are looking to add two sweet, little piggies to your life, just ask for Nicholas and Luke!
