For the month of December adoption fees for all cats and dogs will be at an all-time low. We have reduced our fees in hopes of getting our animals in a warm and cozy loving homes before Christmas. Not only will this help the animals that get adopted, but it will also make room for the many animals waiting to come to our facility.

All dogs can be adopted for just $45* (regularly $70-$130)
*A dog license is required at the time of the adoption for $15.75

All of our cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, physicalled by our vet and up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccines.  Our dogs are heartworm tested and our cats are combo tested (which includes heartworm, FIV and Feline Leukemia).

As you can see these adoption prices are quite the deal! Do you have room in your home and your heart for a new best friend? Give them the best gift of all... a forever home!

Looking For A Home - Moose

We'd like you to meet Moose, a 3-year-old Lab/Springer Spaniel mix.  Moose is very friendly, loving and gentle.  Moose does well with cats and children of all ages, but would be best as the only dog in the home.

Moose wants nothing more than a family who will love him unconditionally and give him the forever home he deserves.  Sadly, poor Moose has been returned not once, but twice.  His previous owners could no longer afford his care.

Most would think this would break his spirits, but Moose is still a happy and loving boy.  Moose is an all around great dog and he would be a joy to any family!

For more information on Moose, please feel free to contact our shelter at (440) 951-6122 or visit Moose during our normal Visiting Hours!

Help Us Save Lives

Here at Lake Humane Society we are overflowing with animals in need.  Animals that came to us after being injured, surrendered or abandoned.  In order to care for these animals and give them the second chance they deserve, we depend on the generous donations from our community.  Lake Humane Society is a private, non-profit organization that receives no government funding.  We are not funded or operated by any national humane organization.  All funding comes solely from generous members of our community with a love for animals.

There are many different ways you can help the animals in our care.  First, you can give a monetary donation using our website, or mail or drop off a donation.  You can also sponsor a cage in our facility in order to help cover some of the costs for that animal.  We are also in need of donated items for our animals, to see what we're in need of check out our Wish List!

Donating isn't currently an option for you?  That's okay! We have other opportunities available where you can still help the animals.  We are always looking for new volunteers to help with events, cleaning, animal care, clerical work, dog walking and so much more!  For more information, please click here!

For more information on how you can help our innocent animals, please visit our website!  We appreciate your support and thank you in advance!

Looking For a Home - Minnie

Abbey, the intern, is here again to spotlight my favorite animal at Lake Humane Society! Over the past couple of weeks, I have gotten a bit attached to a gorgeous Angora cat.  Her name is Minnie, however, there is nothing mini about her!  She is a big girl with a big personality to match.  She is a friendly cat who loves to be spoiled with affection.  She will climb on your lap and let you pet her for hours!  Minnie is looking for a quiet, adult only home because she just loves to lounge around all day and relax.  Minnie is looking for her perfect home to be someone's perfect cat.  If you would like more information on Minnie, please call the shelter at (440) 951-6122 or stop up and visit her!

Looking for a Home - Angel

Hi, my name is Abbey and I am the Marketing Intern at Lake Humane Society.  During the last month I have spent with the animals of LHS, one cat quickly became a favorite of mine.  Her name is Angel and she is one of the most beautiful cats you will ever see.  She is a Domestic Long Hair Calico with the softest fur and the sweetest eyes.  She is very affectionate and loves to be scratched right underneath her chin.  She has a lot of personality and can be quite the diva at times.  She loves the attention she gets when she sits on your lap, and therefore, she needs to be the only cat in the house.  She is very friendly to others and doesn't mind sharing the house with dogs or kids over the age of 5.  Angel is looking for her perfect home and if you would like more information on Angel, please give the shelter a call at (440) 951-6122!

Featured Animals of May

Julius & Brody became the best of friends after living at our shelter for several months.  They are such good friends that we just had to make them a bonded pair - meaning they must find a forever home together!
They are two very special boys who have been waiting a very long time for their turn to be adopted.  If you'd like more information on these two lovable boys, please feel free to visit us!

Cody is a 3 year old Shar-pei/Lab mix.  He was returned to our shelter because his previous owner found him too energetic for their lifestyle.  Cody is a very smart, loyal and playful boy.
He would be a perfect fit for a family with older children to play with him!  He needs an active human who can keep up with him. Stop in and get to know Cody yourself!

Looking for a Home - Peggy

Peggy is a 6 month old Lab mix.  She came to our shelter when she was just a pup and she has been looking for a home ever since.  Peggy is a very adorable, loving and sweet little girl.  She is very playful, but she also enjoys snuggling up next to people.  She came to us with her siblings and her and her brother, Percy, are the only two left!
If you are interested in making Peggy part of your family, stop by LHS and visit her today!

Stroker is a sweet, loving 12 year old Boxer mix.  He came to our shelter last month after his owner sadly passed away.  Stroker came in with his best friend, Sadie, a 15 year old Shepherd mix.  We are looking for a family who will adopt Stroker and allow him to enjoy his golden years.

Stroker would make the greatest companion.  He just loves to go for walks and be by your side!  If you think Stroker is the dog for you, be sure to visit our shelter!

Looking for a Home - Boston

Boston is a very loving, affectionate and sweet Pit Bull mix.  Boston was surrendered in early March due to his previous owner's health condition.  Since then, Boston has won the hearts of each of the LHS staff members.  Boston's best quality is that he is a snuggler.  He would choose cuddling over walking, playing and even eating!  When he goes out for walks during Canine Happy Hour he lays in the grass right by your feet and just waits for you to rub his belly!
If you are interested in making Boston your companion, be sure to visit him at our shelter!  We are located at 7564-E Tyler Boulevard in Mentor.  For more information, please call us at (440) 951-6122 or e-mail us at info@lakehumane.org.

Looking for a Home - Jimmy

We have a very special kitty to introduce you to!  This is Jimmy, a 5 month old boy.  Jimmy is a very sweet, loving, gentle boy.  He came to us back in January after he was found with a large wound on the top of his spine.    We did not think Jimmy would be able to ever walk again.  After spending time healing at the shelter, Jimmy started to re-gain function in his back legs and tail.  Jimmy has a happy and healthy life ahead of him.

Jimmy is a special needs kitty so if you would like to learn more about him, please call our shelter or visit us!

Looking for a Home - Layla

Layla is a very sweet, loving and kind 3 year old Pit Bull mix.  She came to us back in September because her previous owner could not afford her care.  Layla just loves children and she does well with some dogs, too!  She is not a fan of kitty cats, though.  If you are looking for a great family dog, Layla is the dog for you!
For more information on Layla, please feel free to call us at (440) 951-6122 or e-mail us at info@lakehumane.org.

Don't think Layla is the dog for you? We have a bunch more available for adoption: Click here to view Adoptable Animals!
