Featured Adoptables

Cookie
This gorgeous, long haired kitty is Cookie. Despite coming into our care scared and in pain with injuries to her back and leg, this purring machine doesn't let anything get her down. After living on the streets as a stray, this happy go lucky girl is just happy to be safe, warm and loved. She is all patched up and just can't wait to find her new forever home and family. Can you give this beautiful, playful, affectionate girl the home she has always deserved?

Kitty
Say hello to the always laid-back, miss Kitty! This calm, relaxed girl just knows how to take life one nap at a time. She is always purring, loves to cuddle, and would make the perfect couch potato, and partner, for anyone looking to adopt a new companion. Kitty was surrendered into our care as a stray by a Good Samaritan. She is now looking for a new home, but because she always wants to be at the center of your love and affection, she would like to be the only feline child in the home. Come see her today. She just might be your next best friend!

Pop Tart
If you're looking for an old soul to keep you company and love you unconditionally, Pop Tart is your guy! This slightly shy 2-year-old has taken a bit of time to adjust to his new surroundings and life here at LHS, but after coming into our care as a stray, without a person to trust, we can understand. This sweet boy is just looking for someone who has the time, patience, and love to restore his confidence and trust in the humans who truly care about him. Once you give him that, he will be forever grateful. Can you give Pop Tart the furever home and TLC he needs? He is waiting for you!

Lennox
How can you say no to that smiling face?! This adorable, happy boy is Lennox, a 4-year-old Boxer/Hound mix. Sadly, Lennox had to be surrendered to us because his owner could no longer afford his care. This dog is at his happiest when he is as close to you as he can possibly get. He is very affectionate, very sweet and sometimes thinks he is a lap dog. However, lap dog or not, we have grown quite fond of this lovable boy, and want nothing more than for him to find the family he deserves. Visit him today. You won't regret it!

Do you have 2, 3, even 4 plus animals in your home? Well, we know how expensive vaccines can get for pet owners with multiple animals. So, to make it more affordable and to keep pets happy, healthy and safe, we will be holding multiple Vaccine Clinics at Lake Humane Society for cats and dogs. The first one is scheduled for Saturday, March 19th in the LHS Annex building from 12-4pm. There are no restrictions on income or location. For packages, prices, and more clinic dates, click here
Note: These clinics are not meant to replace your regular visits to the vet. It is important that pet owners continue to refer to their regular veterinarian.

Valentines Day Tips
According to poison control experts, they get an unusually high number of cases around Valentines Day. Many of these cases involve pets ingesting chocolate, lilies, which can be fatal to cats, and more. Most of us love Valentines Day. Let's make sure our pets can too. Keep them safe this weekend by keeping this list of items out of their reach. Not only will you be able to enjoy the holiday worry free, but your pet will be safe and just as happy. Learn More

If your pet has ingested a poisonous substance, contact the ASPCA 24-hour emergency hotline at 1-888-426-4435.

Featured Adoptables

Spartan
One-year-old Spartan enjoys playing "catch" because, despite our best efforts, he has not yet mastered the art of playing fetch. Spartan was surrendered to LHS in January because his owner could not care for him due to his declining health. This strikingly handsome boy is very active and will require regular exercise - a fenced in yard would be a plus, so that when he does learn fetch he can run around lots! He's always up for an adventure and would love an active owner. Spartan wants to be the spoiled only 4-legged child, but he will gladly share your home (and your love) with older children (15+ due to his size & energy level). If you think Spartan might be the perfect dog for you and your lifestyle, come visit him today!

To see a short video of Spartan playing "catch" during some one-on-one play time with one of our animal care attendants, click here.

Eliza
Super shy Eliza would rather hide under her bed than anything else. But what she really needs is someone with the love and patience to massage her cares away. Our TLC volunteers work with her here at the shelter, but this gorgeous gray would be happiest in a quiet home where she can learn to trust and relax. While she's awaiting her spaying, she has time to do that. In the meantime, feel free to come in and fill out an application for her adoption.

Whiskers
Whiskers was brought to the shelter as a stray and after being out in the big, scary world all by himself, he has a little bit of confidence building to do. Although he is shy, some ear scratches and a few soothing words, is all he needs to relax a little. He is ready to start a new chapter in his life and would like to find his very own human who will make him feel safe and loved. So if you have room in your home (and heart) for a kitty that just needs a little extra TLC, visit Whiskers today!

Ruby
This beautiful girl is Ruby! This two-year-old Checkered Giant mix has been with us since August 2015 and she has been patiently waiting to find a new home! She is very calm and can be a bit shy so she could use some extra TLC to bring out her affectionate side. She came to the shelter because her previous owner was moving and could not take her along. Ruby would prefer a home with someone who has experience with rabbits and has plenty of time to give her the attention she needs.
Stop in and see her before someone else is lucky enough to adopt her!

Featured Adoptable

Scarlet
Scarlet found herself in our care after she was abandoned by her owner. Despite having her world turned upside down, this friendly girl is in good spirits. She is a 7-year-old, Siberian Husky mix with the heart of an angel. She loves to love you and is happy just being by your side. She also knows commands sit, down, and beg, and will gladly perform these tricks for some treats. Scarlet is looking for her second chance at happiness with a new family. Because of her easygoing and gentle peronsality, she would do well with children of all ages. Can you give Scarlet the forever home she deserves?

Pistachio & Pecan
Two more of our featured pets are bonded pair Pistachio and Pecan. Sadly these 5-year-olds were brought into our care because their previous owner passed away. They are still a little scared and unsure of their surroundings, but after what they have been through, we don't blame them. Both kitties are very loving and even though Pecan likes to hog all of the attention, Pistachio can't imagine life without his sister. They are looking for someone willing to give them a home where they can feel safe and loved together. Visit the shelter and visit with these two wonderful kitties. They would be happy to see you.

Jumper
Another deserving pet looking for her furever home is Jumper, a 2-year-old Rabbit. Jumper is quite curious and friendly, and enjoys being held. After living out in the world as a stray, she is now hoping to find a new home with someone who has experience with Rabbits, who will make her feel safe and loved.

Didn't quite see what you're looking for? No worries, there is plenty more where they came from!
