Featured Adoptables

Max
This handsome, big kitty is 9-year-old Max. Max is really laid back and can be a little shy, but his favorite pastime is just spending some good old quality time with you. And if it's conversation you're after, he is also quite the talker. Max was brought to the shelter because his previous owner was moving and could not take him along. Max is now looking for a new forever home where he will get all the love and attention any senior needs. So if you are looking for a very handsome, very sweet kitty just ask for Max. And remember, old men need loving too!

Mufasa
This gorgeouss man is Mufasa. Mufasa has had quite the remarkable recovery here at LHS. After his owners neglected to treat a wound on his head, Mufasa was in need of some serious care. Even though his ordeal and the treatment he had to undergo was very uncomfortable, Mufasa remained calm, sweet and gentle through the whole thing. All he is left with now is a bright, happy and healthy future and a scar on the side of his head. But, hey I think we can all agree, he still has his good looks. And besides having the personality of an angel, Mufasa also has quite a playful side and is ready to pounce on any toy brave enough to come near him. This special kitty is looking for a new home where he will forever feel safe and loved. So if you think you can give Mufasa a good home (without dogs), stop in the shelter today!

Cutie
This young lady is 2-year-old Cutie. This laid back but very curious cat was brought to us because her owner had too many animals. Cutie loves to explore every nook and cranny she can fit into. She also loves attention and is always up for a good belly rub. Can you give Cutie the home she has been patiently waiting for? She would do best in a home with children over the age of 10. Come on by and pay her a visit. She just might be your next best friend!

Joey
This adorable, soft rabbit is Joey. Joey is a 5-year-old male Rabbit brought to us because his previous owner could no longer take care of him. Joey is now looking for a new forever home with someone who has experience with rabbits. Joey is very friendly and just loves ear scratches and back rubs. Can you give him all the lovin' he needs? Coco's Amazing Transformation

Our Humane Investigations Department is one of our most invaluable services that we provide our community. Our Humane Agent works with local law enforcement to fight animal cruelty and neglect all across Lake County. As with all of our programs and services, our Humane Investigations Department is funded solely by donations made to LHS. Can you make a donation today and help us continue to save animals like Coco?

Coco was seized by our Humane Agent in late November of 2014. We had attempted to first educate and assist Coco's owner in order to get him the veterinary care he desperately needed. After Coco's owners failed to provide necessary medical care for their companion, we took action and immediately started Coco on treatment. Coco's owners were charged with animal cruelty.

After just 2 weeks of treatment, Coco already started looking so much better and he was much happier (as shown in the photos below). Coco made a full recovery and is currently awaiting adoption in his foster home after being transferred to English Springer Rescue America.

Without your continued support, we cannot continue to be a voice for the voiceless animals of Lake County. Thank you for allowing us to stand up for the pets who need us most.

Click here to donate and help us continue to defend and protect the neglected and abused pets of Lake County.

Beck
This young man is one-year-old Beck. Beck came to us as a stray and he is now hoping to find a forever home that he can call his own. He is a little scraggly from being out in the world on his own but with a little time and TLC, he'll be good as new again. This sweet, cuddle bug appreciates any small amount affection and he will always love you for it. Beck is FIV positive and will need to be the only feline in the home (or with other FIV positive kitties). All this kitty wants is to feel safe and loved. Can you provide the safe haven this young boy deserves? Stop in and see for yourself!

Figero
One of our other pets still looking for that special home is 2-year-old Figero. Figero is one of the sweetest kitties you will ever meet. He absolutely loves belly rubs and just cuddling in your lap. He is also very playful and is alway up for a little fun. Figero was brought to us because of his owner's ill health. He is now looking for a forever home where he can get the one-on-one love and attention he misses. He would do well with children of all ages as well as with other feline siblings.

Chuckie
Meet Chuckie! This large cat is pretty much the perfect package. He is laid back but is quite playful and is always up for a little fun. He is also gentle and very affectionate. Chuck was brought to us when his previous owner lost her home. He is now looking for someone special to come swoop him up. This kitty's easy going nature and his desire to love, makes him great with children of all ages as well as with other feline siblings. So if your looking for that new special addition to your family, Chuckie might just be the one! Come see for yourself! .

Fred
This handsome man is Fred. This 3-year-old kitty is very laid back and affectionate. His favorite pastimes are afternoon naps in your lap and lots of belly rubs. He is also quite playful and will pretty much chase anything that moves. Fred came to the shelter as a stray and is now hoping to find a furever home that he can call his own. Can you give him the homes he deserves?

Featured Adoptables

Moose
This happy face belongs to 8-year-old Moose. Moose came to us in late June because his owners could no longer take care of him. He was a little shy with us at first but as you can see he has become much more relaxed. This laid back, affectionate dog deserves to find that special someone who will make him feel safe and loved. Are you his special someone? Stop in an pay him a visit.

Diesel
Meet Diesel! This adorable young man is full of spunk and energy. His favorite things are his play sessions, lots of cuddling and long walks. Diesel was brought to us because he did not get along with the other animals in his home. Needless to say he would prefer to be in a home without other dogs. And because he has so much energy and is very strong, he would do best around children over the age of 10. Diesel is housebroken, but not crate trained and could use a little work on his manners. So if you think you can give Diesel the time and care he needs and provide him with a fenced in backyard for lots of exercise, stop in and see him!

Ruby
This silly girl is Ruby. This rambunctious 2-year-old has plenty of energy to keep both you and herself entertained for hours. She is also very affectionate and absolutely loves the attention. Ruby was brought us because her owner's health made giving her the attention she needs very hard. She is now looking for a new furever home where she will once again be a part of a special family (with children over the age of 5). Ruby has a waiver for a dental examination. Stop in and see her for yourself!

Opie
This sweet, little man is 2-year-old Opie. He was surrendered to LHS because his owner could no longer care for him. He is a little shy at first but coming into a new and strange world can take a little getting used to. A few ear scratches and a little loving is all he needs to relax. This special kitty is also FIV positive and would need to be the only cat (or with other FIV positive cats) in his new furever home. So if you are looking to add a very sweet, very calm kitty to your life (and lap), just ask for Opie!

Didn't quite see what you were looking for? There are plenty more where they came from! Click here to view more of our adoptable dogs, cats & small animals.
