Mutt Strut - Just ONE Month Away!

Our 19th Annual Mutt Strut is just one month away which still gives you plenty of time to raise money for the animals in need here at Lake Humane Society. Our goal for this year is to raise $25,000 for the injured, abused and abandoned animals in our care. As many of you know, we do not receive any government funding, nor are we operated or funded by any national humane organizations. We rely solely on contributions from individuals and local businesses that care about animals and our service to the community.

Each year, we count on a wonderful group of shelter ambassadors to go out into the community and raise money for our animals. We hope that you will consider participating this year in order to make a difference in the lives of so many homeless animals!

Fundraisers have a couple different methods to choose from in order to raise money:

  • Raise money online using FirstGiving! This makes it easy so that fundraisers can have everything in one place and they are able to reach more people by using e-mail and social media to share their page. Fundraisers using FirstGiving can still collect off-line donations and track them on their page as well! Starting a personalized fundraiser page is very simple and only takes 10-15 minutes. To get started now, click here!
  • Raise money in person using a Pledge Form! You can take your pledge form with you door to door or ask anyone you know for a donation. Collect all of your contributions and track them on your pledge form. You then have the choice to pre-register and turn in your donations ahead of time, or you can bring everything with you on the day of the event. To get started, click here to print your pledge form!
The registration fee for fundraisers who raise $25 or more in pledges is waived!

The Animals at LHS Need Your Help

As we're sure you can imagine, Summer is the busiest time for us here at Lake Humane. We are bursting at the seams with litters and litters of kittens and we are constantly welcoming surrendered animals into our care. We have a wonderful group of volunteers and fosters who help our staff care for these animals, but no matter how much help we have, there are always more and more animals who need our help.

Adopt a shelter pet! One of the most rewarding ways to help the animals at Lake Humane Society is to open your home to one! If you are in the position to add a furry member to your family, we hope you will choose adoption and in turn you will be saving a live!

Can't adopt, but still want to help? Volunteer or foster! We are always in need of new people to help us in many ways. There are both hands-on/in-shelter opportunities and off-site/at home options! We always need the assistance of volunteers at the shelter for things like: dog walking, cat TLC, shelter greeters, office assistants and more! Or, if you'd rather help out off-site, we always need event volunteers and shelter ambassadors who go out and spread the word about our cause. Lastly, we always need fosters who are willing to take home animals who need special attention.

Don't have the time to volunteer? We understand! But there is still a way you can help... Donate! Here at LHS we run solely on donations and we depend heavily on our community. We are always in need of monetary donations in order to continue our care for our animals. We also have a wish list which includes several items we are always in need of.

Here are some options for donating to LHS:
Donate items which are found on our Wish List.
Donate money to help with the general operation of our shelter.
Donate money to Angel Fund in order to help animals with special needs.

We hope you will consider lending a helping hand in order to make a difference in the lives of the homeless animals of Lake County.
