Help Your Community Cats!

Ways You Can Help
With temperatures in Lake County often reaching close to (or below) freezing during the winter months, any pets left outside are susceptible to frostbite and hypothermia. So, in order to give stray and feral cats a little help this winter, here are some simple and inexpensive tips for building shelters for community cats.

Featured Adoptables

Precious
Say hello to super senior, 14-year-old Precious! This little dog would like to remind everyone that she is not old, she is vintage and vintage is in these days. Precious, even though she has lost her eyesight, still enjoys exploring her surroundings and taking long lap naps. Sadly, this sweet lady was brought to us because her beloved owner passed away. She is now looking for a calm, relaxing, forever retirement home where she can be the perfect lap dog for someone special.

Doodles
Another featured senior is 8-year-old Doodles. She is a very large (1.3 lbs to be exact), but very beautiful girl who loves to just hang out and relax in your lap. This adorable couch potato was surrendered to LHS because her owner did not have the time to give her the attention she needs. She is now looking for a furever retirement home where she can get the one-on-one love and affection she has been craving for so long. Come see her today! She just might be your next best friend.

Helena
This adorable, little girl is Helena. Helena was born in the shelter after her mom was surrendered to us. She is now 4 months old and full of spunk. She can be a little shy with new people, but bring out her favorite toy and it is on! She loves to play and will pretty much chase anything that moves. So if your looking for a young kitty who will entertain you for hours on end, Helena is your gal! Visit her at Petco across from the Great Lake Mall in Mentor.

Charlotte
Meet 10-month-old Charlotte! She is friendly and affectionate, but has become quite used to hanging out under her box in our cat community room. Even though she acts like she wants to hide, Charlotte is very playful and sweet. She is young and after being brought to LHS after being abandoned by her owner, she is ready to find a new forever home with a loving, new family who will always keep her safe. Can you give Charlotte the home she deserves?

Featured Adoptables

Killian
This handsome boy is Killian. Killian is a 1-year-old German Shepherd/Lab mix. He hasn't been with us for very long and is still adjusting to his new life her at LHS. It is still a little scary for him and he finds his safe place is in the back of his kennel. However, this dog just wants to love and once he gets to know you, he is one big, cuddly softy. Killian was recently returned to the shelter because his adopters could no longer care for him. After his world has been turned upside down again, all this dog wants is a true forever home where he will feel safe and loved. Can you give him the home he so dearly misses?

Red
This big boy is Red, a Bloodhound/Pitbull mix. Red was brought to the shelter because of his previous owner's allergies. Red may be 5 years old, but inside he is still a puppy. He would love a fenced-in yard with plenty of room to stretch his legs. He would also love a family (with children over the age of five) with the time and energy to give this playful, strong dog the attention and exercise he needs. Red, even though he is not small, thinks he is a lap dog and is as much a couch potato as he is energetic. So if your looking to add a new addition to your family, Red may be the one!

Miles
This strikingly beautiful boy is Miles. He was surrendered into our care as an injured stray by a Good Samaritan. Since then, his injury has healed and the bald spot on the back of his head is beginning to fill in (not that it takes away from his good looks). Miles is basically one big love bug. He loves to give hugs and eskimo kisses, is always talking, and their is nothing he enjoys more than snuggling. So, if you're looking for a chatty cuddle bug to keep you warm during those cold winter months, Miles is your guy!

Pimento
Say hello to 5-year-old Pimento. Her favorite past times are cuddling, lots of ear and chin scratches, and if there is a toy nearby, she is more than happy to chase it down. Pimento was brought to LHS because her previous owner had too many animals. She is now hoping to find a forever home where she will get the one-on-one attention she missed out on in her old home. Pimento is FIV positive so she must be the only cat in the home (or with other FIV positive siblings). Come pay her a visit!

Featured Adoptables

Hazel
This extremely laid back kitty is Hazel. Hazel was brought to LHS in July of 2015, after the declining health of her owner made it too hard to care for her. Although she has gotten used to our staff and volunteers, she is still not used to the noisy life of the shelter. Hazel is hoping to soon find a home where she will feel safe, relaxed and at ease with the special human who takes it upon themselves to open their heart and home to a cat in need. Because she prefers a quite environment, she would do best in a home with children over the age of 10. Don't worry though, things won't be too quite with this talkative kitty around!

Jesse
Meet Jesse! This independent 2-year-old has been with us for quite some time. She was brought to us in May of 2015 and after nearly 8 months in our care, she is ready to find a permanent home. Jesse is quite shy and although she won't seek it out, she loves attention. This sweet girl just needs someone to love her, and provide her with the TLC she needs to finally bring her out of her shell and restore her confidence.

Rosie
This adorable young lady is Rosie, an American Pitbull Terrier mix. Rosie was adopted back in July, but was returned earlier this month because her owner could no longer care for her. This 1-year-old has gone through many obstacles in her young life, and is ready to find a true furever home where she will be furever loved. She is even could with children of all ages, making her a wonderful option for any family. Stop by LHS and pay her a visit! This loving, friendly and playful dog could be the next great addition to your home.

Angel
Say hello to Angel. This sweet, 1-year-old, Labrador Retriever mix was brought to us back in November because her owner could no longer care for her. Since then, she was a adopted but was returned earlier this month because she did not get along with the other pets in the home. Angel is a gentle and loving dog but would need to be in an adult-only home as the only pet. The sweet girl is looking for that special someone who has the time, energy and patience for a dog who just needs a little extra care and attention. Are you that special person?

Featured Adoptables

Soda Pop
This sweet kitty is 2-year-old Soda Pop. She came to the shelter as a stray and was practically scared of everything. However, our staff has been giving her much needed TLC and after one of our volunteers gave her a cage break at her home, Soda Pop has turned into a new kitty! Soda Pop is FIV positive and would need to be the only pet in the home (or with other FIV positive kitties). Come see her this weekend for some one-on-one playtime. She has won our hearts and we just know she will win yours!

Fred
That's right, Fred, unfortunately is still with us. This handsome kitty has been with us since August and we want nothing more than for him to find the loving home he deserves. He is very laid back and affectionate, and his favorite pastimes are afternoon naps in your lap and lots of belly rubs. He is also quite playful and will pretty much chase anything that moves. Fred came to the shelter as a stray and has been patiently waiting to find a furever home that he can call his own. Can you give him the homes he deserves?

Luna
This calm kitty is 3-year-old Luna. Luna was surrendered to LHS as a stray by a Good Samaritan. Even though she was out in the world all on her own, she is growing quite fond of humans. She has quite the little motor and it is easily kicked on by just a few pets and ear scratches. This loving, little kitty is just looking for a forever home where she will feel safe and loved. Can you give her the home she deserves?

Yager
This adorable young man is 3-year-old Yager. Yager is a Lab/Greyhound mix who was surrendered to LHS because his owners were moving and could not take him along. Yager very much enjoys long walks and is very affectionate. He is also very playful with lots of energy to burn so he would love to find a home with a fenced in back yard. Yager is patiently waiting to find a forever home but really hopes to find one soon. Pay him a visit, he just might be your next best friend!
